Principles that work in every kata

The Swiss Kata Camp is not about learning one particular kata. We'll take a closer look at specific sequences and work on breathing, body mechanics and movement principles. We'll consider the role of the mind too and share ideas you can take back into your own training.

Whichever Kyokushin organisation you train with, and whichever version of a kata you practise, what we work on applies to your kata as well.

  1. Sequences

A closer look at selected sequences: what makes them work, and why.

  2. Breathing

How breathing supports rhythm, power and control.

  3. Body mechanics & movement

How the body generates and transfers power, and how to move efficiently from one technique to the next.

  4. The role of the mind

Focus, intention and presence while performing kata.

  5. Training methods

Ideas and exercises you can take back to your dojo and your own training.

The detailed programme will be published closer to the camp.
